What pleasure meets the eyes when you discover these 2 islands of paradise where nature and authenticity combine!
The beauty of this island is found in its numerous little quaint villages that have retained much traditional architecture and Vendeen houses. Discover the charm of the island via the many cycle paths as well as experiencing the expansive beaches and natural beauty of the area.
For those who enjoy shore fishing (cockles, clams etc) you will be able to eat what you catch!
Previously, a unique paved road was the only way of connecting the island with the mainland. However, this road was liable to flooding so a bridge was constructed to link the island with mainland France.
Situated 17km off the Vendeen coast this naturally wild island is perfect for discovering on foot or by bike. It is unmissable!
So small, but bursting with beautiful countryside, cliffs, little coves, castles and beaches, the native islanders are proud of their home and can’t wait to share their lives and customs with you! The harbours, fishing ports, the wild inlets, sand dunes and beaches are all there waiting to be discovered.
The magic of the Ile d’Yeu is found in its desire to remain true to its origins, to keep a warm and friendly atmosphere in unspoilt surroundings. In fact, you can only access the island by boat from either St Gilles Croix de Vie or Fromentine.
